One of the biggest “crimes” of the establishments today is not telling their stories – the positive things that they have done for development over the past decades that they consider not necessary to tell the people. The result? They provide a fertile ground for the people and anti-establishments to speculate, to make assumptions that all they have done is corrupt and bad for the people. Still the authorities say nothing (that is of any help to the people to understand issues better). This is a very frustrating situation. While they keep unwisely tight-lipped, the people make uninformed (or lopsidedly informed) judgments on the State’s policies and economic programmes. And the authorities can’t blame anyone else for the turn of events when they have been taking the importance of good communication for granted for far too long. There are many initiatives that the State had undertaken that are far better and useful than what their counterparts in the Peninsula have. But as usual, the State has not been good in telling these well. Today, keeping quiet about your positive deeds is not humility. It’ s inviting unnecessary disaster..
