SMA, AZAM organise ‘Youth Online Business Workshop 2019’

KUCHING: Increased internet access and constant innovations in online business marketing have created new asset-light online business models, giving the youth more opportunities to take part in the increasingly competitive and lucrative online market. The potential for Sarawak youths to be successful in this area is significant with the government’s clear digital economy roadmap for all sectors, and, the availability of various unique local products that are highly marketable in both local and international markets.

This development prompts the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) in collaboration with Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak to organize a workshop called Youth Online Business Workshop 2019 themed “Boosting Youth Enterprise through Online Business” on Oct 25 (from 8am to 5pm) and Oct 26 (from 8am until 1pm) at the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) Yayasan Sarawak Building (near Padang Merdeka).

The one-and-a half day workshop will help participants navigate the world of online business, and take advantage of the availability of online business models which maximise on marketing strategies but work on minimal capital investment.

The workshop will expose participants to existing tools and frameworks to launch or expand their business while helping participants plan effective strategies to better grow their business, define their overall goals, identify risks and opportunities, and facilitate business transitions from traditional to online platforms, new technologies like automation and virtual reality, and e-commerce portals.

The workshop will include five modules by Alianza Group, on setting up online businesses, in addition to a knowledge sharing session e-commerce portal, and overview of online businesses and current issues by Sarawak Multimedia Authority.  

In addition, there will be a briefing on online business marketing for social media influencers to be presented by Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak (KOBIS).

Approximately 50 participants made up of local young entrepreneurs as well as graduates of public and private institutions of higher learning are expected to attend.

This workshop is part of an on-going SMA-AZAM’s digital inclusivity programme.

KUCHING:Lembaga Multimedia Sarawak (SMA) dan Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak akan menganjurkan beberapa siri seminar dan bengkel bagi pengaruh media sosial Sarawak bermula 19 Oktober ini di sini. 

Bertemakan ‘Influencers with a Cause’, siri bengkel Program Pembangunan Pengaruh Media Sosial Sarawak ini turut mendapat kolaboratif daripada Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak (KOBIS).

Antara yang diundang untuk berkongsi tip pada program itu nanti ialah YouTuber Cardock atau dikenali sebagai Fadhil Mohamad Isa yang akan memberi ceramah bertajuk ‘Perjalanan ke arah menjadi Pengaruh Media Sosial’.

Ahli strategi pemasaran berpengaruh, Bvern Yip dan Daphne Teoh dari Kuala Lumpur juga diundang untuk berkongsi tip kepada peserta.

Turut diadakan forum bagaimana untuk memperkasakan pengaruh sosial media bagi impak sosioekonomi yang tinggi.

Forum ini akan menampilkan Kumpulan AnyMind serta personaliti radio Kuching dan pencipta kandungan di sebalik Makcik Bawang Champion – Afick Wazai dan Fir Affandi sebagai ahli panel.

Workshops, seminars for social media influencers

KUCHING: With more established brands turning to social media influencers to market their products, chances for youth and aspiring content creators to make viable livelihoods online are opening up.

It is against this backdrop that Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam Sarawak) in collaboration with Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak (Kobis) will be organising a series of seminars and workshops for Sarawak-based social media influencers starting Oct 19 this year.

Talk to discuss creating a difference with social enterprise

KUCHING: The Knowledge Sharing on Social Enterprise will be held at the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) at Bangunan Yayasan Sarawak on 24 October 2019, 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Organised by Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (AZAM Sarawak),  it aims to expose participants to the potential and importance of social enterprise in Sarawak and the way it can be applied to address social, environmental and financial issues.

The speaker are Grow the Goose and Borneo Cocoa founder Nina Othman, who has approximately 14 years’ experience in entrepreneurship, marketing, and advertising, and Anja Juliah Abu Bakar – founder and social impact director of Blubear Holdings Sdn Bhd, a social enterprise that empowers girls and gives them access to education.

About 70 to 100 participants are expected to attend.

Talk on creating a difference with social enterprise


KUCHING: Non-governmental organisation Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam Sarawak) is organising a one-day programme themed ‘Knowledge Sharing on Social Enterprise’ at the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) at Bangunan Yayasan Sarawak, here on Oct 24.

Academician: Sustainable tourism demands a lot, but not an impossible task

KUCHING: Achieving a sustainable tourism industry is ‘a marathon’ that requires consistent efforts and commitment from all stakeholders involved including the host country, tourism players, local population and visitors.

In this respect, Dr Linda J Cox stresses that the path towards sustainable tourism is a long journey that is beset with challenges and thus, one must skilfully navigate it to achieve win-win situation for all parties.

A leaf out of the Hawaiian holidays

1-37KUCHING: As Malaysia further develops the area of sustainable tourism, it could take a leaf out of Hawaii’s book in terms of its application of a sustainable certification programme in the tourism industry.

Dr Linda J. Cox, a community economic development specialist at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, revealed that Hawaii’s sustainable certification programme educates operators and stakeholders on best management practices (BMPs) for natural and cultural resources.

AZAM continues to help upskill local youths

KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak continued its efforts to develop and engage local youths for development in the state by organising a programme titled “AZAM Youth Upskilling Programme 2019”.

Themed “Inspire, Impact, Influence”, 15 AZAM Young Souls members attended the programme, aimed to build their capacity as productive socio-economic resources for Sarawak.

The programme was also partly to nurture the participants to be effective volunteers especially in their roles and contributions in AZAM’s activities promoting development communication in Sarawak.

Rural pupils learn English with AZAM Sarawak

MIRI: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) Sarawak continues its effort to boost rural students’ confidence in learning and using the English language.

In its latest endeavour, Azam held a one-day ‘Azam Rural School Motivation and Community Outreach Programme’ in Niah here yesterday.

The event, which was held in collaboration with Subis District Office and supported by Faradale Holdings, also saw the participation of Azam members, Azam Toastmasters Club and youth volunteer group Azam Young Souls.
