AZAM youth volunteers or better known as AZAM Young Souls (AYS) get to hone their invaluable professional skills when volunteering at the recently held AIFFA 2023 in Kuching.
About 24 youths comprising AZAM Young Souls (AYS) and AZAM Sarawak officers volunteered at the 3 days event. Among other things, their duties covered attending to the delegates that included foreign film makers and celebrities. the youths learned to apply and polish their communication and social skills. Additionally, the young volunteers applied their problem-solving skills on issues such as logistics.
The AYS volunteers came from various backgrounds such as school’s students, undergraduates, young working adults from the public and private sectors.AIFFA Festival director, Livan Tajang thanked AZAM for sending the AYS to join the AIFFA squad volunteers to assist with the event. She said the volunteers also served as young AIFFA ambassadors contributing to Sarawak as a whole.
Livan was presenting a partner trophy to AZAM at Complex AZAM in Kuching this morning.
Rosalind Misieng, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AZAM who received the trophy on behalf of AZAM thanked AIFFA for providing the opportunities for the local youth to volunteer and learn from the international event as part of their personal and professional development journey while contributing to Sarawak’s creative industry development. Also present were Karen Ong – AIFFA Project Manager, AZAM officers and some of the AYS who volunteered for the event.
This is the 4th time that AZAM has been invited to send youth volunteers to help out with the prestigious event.
The ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) is an event that gathers together a diverse range of film participants from the 10 ASEAN countries. The 3-day event brought together ASEAN directors, cinematographers, actors, actresses, celebrities, film students and fans. AIFFA presented a whole range of film activities from the ASEAN region leading to the highlight of the celebrations where the 2023 award winners were announced.
