SARAWAK, November 12, 2023 – AZAM Sarawak, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that plays a pivotal role in communication development in the State of Sarawak and has been serving since 1983, is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary with great enthusiasm. The 40th Anniversary Dinner will be graced by the presence of Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah bin Ali Hasan, the Second Deputy Chief Minister and spouse, YBhg. Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud,  as the guest of honor.

The 40th Anniversary Dinner of AZAM Sarawak is expected to be an extraordinary event, with the launch of their new Mission and Vision taking center stage. This significant occasion marks a pivotal milestone in their enduring commitment to advancing communication in Sarawak. AZAM’s new Vision is “Empowered Communities for Sustainable Development in Sarawak,” while their Mission is “Advancing Communities Towards Socio-Economic Growth Through Development Communication and Digital Inclusivity.” These statements reflect AZAM Sarawak unwavering determination to drive positive change in the region.

The event also includes a recognition session for 35 recipients who have provided outstanding contributions and support to AZAM Sarawak’s development over the years. In appreciation of their service and support, three former chairpersons of AZAM Sarawak are also honored, along with 28 Pioneer members who have been steadfast in supporting AZAM Sarawak since its inception.

AZAM Sarawak also pays tribute to two major groups within its organization, namely AZAM Young Souls and AZAM Toastmasters Club, by presenting special awards to two AZAM Young Souls and two members of the AZAM Toastmasters Club who have achieved remarkable success over the years.

The 40th Anniversary Dinner features various activities, including special performances by AZAM Young Souls and the D’cipta Group, and is highlighted by a birthday cake-cutting ceremony in celebration of the 40th anniversary.

The 40th Anniversary Dinner of AZAM Sarawak is a unique opportunity to appreciate the organization’s significant achievements and contributions in strengthening more efficient communication for Sarawak. As they face new challenges and look towards the future, AZAM Sarawak remains committed to supporting the State Government in disseminating information on the latest development policies, including the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS), which will shape the direction of communication development.
