Kuching, 12 Oktober ā€” About 30 youths convened today in Kuching for a Youth
Pre-Assembly programme, organised by Urbanice Malaysia in collaboration with
AZAM Sarawak and various other partners.

The Pre-Assembly program seeks to bring together like-minded youth, allowing them
to shape and design the Youth Assembly scheduled for November 4, 2023, at
Pustaka Negeri Sarawak. The results of the Pre-Assembly will define the key topics
for discussion during the Assembly, identify quick wins, build a youth network in
Malaysia, and propose projects that can leave a lasting impact as the legacy of the
youth group in the Malaysia Urban Forum.

The participants of the Pre-Assembly consist of youth from both online participation
and physical attendance. representing various organisations and agencies including
the AZAM Young Souls, Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGa), Adab
Youth Garage, Parlimen Belia Sarawak, Kelab Belia Perkasa Stapok, Angkatan Belia
Islam Malaysia (ABIM) Sarawak, Kelab Belia Pro aktif, Natural Resources and
Environment Board (NREB), Sarawak, and Sarawak Esports Association

In an online address, TPR T.S Norliza Hashim, the CEO of Urbanice Malaysia,
remarked, “This platform is not just intended for the exchange of ideas and
knowledge, but also to create an impact among the younger generation in shaping
their environment and building networks to support critical agendas. It aligns with the
goals of Urbanice and the Ministry of Local Government Development, which
champions the 2030 urban development agenda.”

She continued that in addition to crafting an engaging program today, they also aim
to guarantee the seamless flow of the Assembly session during the Malaysia Urban
Forum 2023 in November, further enriched by the ideas contributed by the active
youth today.

Meanwhile, AZAM Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the AZAM Youth
Development Committee, Mr. Arif Irwani Azahari, stated, “this gathering marks the
beginning of an exciting journey towards the Malaysia Urban Forum 2023, where the
youth will play a pivotal role in addressing urban challenges and creating innovative
solutions.”

He said AZAM is pleased to have the AZAM Young Souls (AYS) participate and
contribute in this endeavour, and thanked Urbanice Malaysia for providing this
opportunity for AYS as well as for other Sarawak youth.

The Pre-Assembly programme featured various other key stakeholders, including the
Sarawak Government, Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA), ADAB Youth
Garage (Kuala Lumpur), Majlis Belia Malaysia, BERLIAN, Sarawak State Library,
and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU).

This pre-assembly serves as a precursor to the main Youth Assembly in conjunction
with the Malaysia Urban Forum 2023, scheduled for November 4, 2023, in Kuching.
